WHAT DOES CERTIFIED ORGANIC MEAN?

Certified Organic means that the product must comply with strict standards and regulations. 

 

With certified organic products consumers are assured that the organic ingredients have no pesticides, synthetic insecticides, fungicides, herbicides or genetically modified ingredients used in any phase of their production, from farm to consumer. 

 

All organic and fair trade ingredients used in our products have been certified by accredited agents who verify that they meet the standards set by COSMOS Ecocert.

DO UNIQUE PRODUCTS CONTAIN ANY ARTIFICIAL COLOURS OR FRAGRANCES?

The fragrances we use in our products are made purely from plants and they are 100% natural.

WHAT ABOUT CIRCULAR BEAUTY?

Upcycled or circular ingredients meaning ingredients sourced as waste from another production often food and then refined to be used in cosmetics. We were one of the first companies in the world to work with circular beauty long before it became popular. In 2011 we won the green sustainability prize on the world´s largest beauty exhibition COSMOPROF for using ingredients refined from food waste. Over the years ingredients change as new products are developed and today our main circular ingredients are apple extract from cider production and rice protein from rice production.

WHY DON'T YOU USE GMO?

GMO stands for genetically modified organisms. Using GMO matters in cosmetics leads to an intensification of the farming industry and a reduction of the costs of natural ingredients, however, GMO also involves the risk of something going wrong, thereby causing unwanted changes to the eco systems involved.

WHY DON'T YOU USE NANO?

Nano means small, indicating a submultiple of one billionth of a unit. 

 

These are ingredients containing extremely small molecules that are much smaller than those found in traditionally used cosmetic ingredients. 

 

We know that when matters turn smaller, they are able to develop new chemical features, and in addition, research has shown that some nano matters are able to penetrate the top layer of the skin. 

 

It might be that nano matters are able to enter the bloodstream and possibly have a negative impact on our immune system. More research into this area is needed.

WHY SHOULD I USE ORGANIC PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF CONVENTIONAL PRODUCTS?

When a product is certified by a respectable organisation like COSMOS ECOCERT you can rest assure that the claims on the product are correct. 

 

  • COSMOS ECOCERT does not only control that the ingredients and products live up to their standards concerning the organic contents but they also control that the products are manufactured in a correct and good manner that are in compliance with the regulations. 
  • COSMOS ECOCERT is for instance checking our batch references, documentation, microbiological test, safety assessments and a lot more things that don´t really have to do with being organic but more with the safety of the products. 
  • If you buy a COSMOS ECOCERT product it is also an assurance that the products are safe to use. 

 

You absorb a large part of the cosmetic products you use through your skin so you actually eat your lotion so if you care about what you put in your mouth, you should also care what cosmetic products you use.

WHAT INGREDIENTS SHOULD I AVOID?

Parabens, silicones, PEGs, TEA, DEA, MEA, SLS, SLES, phthalates, GMO, pesticides, artificial colour or fragrances. The only way you can avoid pesticides in beauty products is to buy organic products.

HOW DO YOU PRESERVE YOUR PRODUCTS?

In Unique Haircare we use Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate. Both are widely used food preservatives and in food known by the names E202 and E211. 

 

They are safe, effective and very mild. On some products you might see other preservatives like Benzoic Acid but this is because it is used as a by-preservative which means that it has been used to preserve an added ingredient for instance a surfactant or an extract.

DO YOU OFFER ANY FRAGRANCE-FREE PRODUCTS?

We add no artificial fragrances to our products. If you are prone to allergic reactions because of fragrance, try our many fragrance-free products like Mild Shampoo, Curl Styling Cream, Fragrance-free Argan Oil, Kids Shampoo, Growth & shine shampoo Extra Rich, Growth & Shine Shampoo Colour Protect, Growth & Shine Conditioner, Miracle Hair Mask, Colour Care Treatment, Fragrance-free Styling Gel, Fragrance-free Hair Spray and the 4 Hyaluronic Acid Serums for the scalp.

 

These products are formulated without fragrance or essential oils containing allergens.

Absolutely. Organic agricultural practices save resources and keep our soil and water healthy. By working in harmony with nature organic agriculture protects and safeguards the health of our people and the environment in many ways.

BEAUHEI::T skincare is fully vegan, and now our Unique Beauty haircare is too! Responding to your requests, we’ve updated our formulations by replacing whey with rice proteins and apple extract. The result? Hair that’s even softer, shinier, and healthier than ever before!

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

For Unique Beauty shampoos and conditioners, we use recycled PET (rPET) bottles or green PE made from plants.

For BEAUHEI::T, we use rPET and recycled glass. Glass is endlessly recyclable—it can be reused repeatedly without losing its quality or purity.
